Accessibility
Inclusive access — by design, not afterthought.
Last updated: 27 April 2026
We want every guest, host and collaborator to feel welcome and able to do their best work in our studio. This page is a living description of how we approach access, where we're confident, and where we're still improving.
Our commitment
Target conformance: WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We test new pages against AA before publishing and audit the full site twice a year. Any criterion we know we're failing right now is listed under "Where we're improving" below — we don't claim conformance we haven't earned.
Physical access — Studio 127, SE8 3GG
- Route from station: 6-minute step-free walk from Deptford Bridge DLR (cross at the signalled crossing onto Wharf Street; the building is on the right). 8 minutes from Deptford National Rail (lift access at platform).
- Building entrance: Main door is street-level with no step. Intercom callback to the studio on arrival; door opens wide (820mm clear).
- Studio floor: First floor of Artistic Spaces. Lift available (760mm × 1300mm cab, voice + tactile floor indication).
- Studio door: 850mm clear opening, no raised sill.
- Accessible toilet: Same floor as the studio, ~15m from the door. Standard Doc M layout with grab rails.
- Lighting can be adjusted for guests with photosensitivity — flag in advance and we'll have a softer pre-set ready.
- Recording sessions are by appointment only, so the building's quiet and predictable (useful for autistic guests or anyone sensitive to ambient noise).
- Service-animal welcome. Water bowl available on request.
Audio and video deliverables
- Captions on video deliverables: Burned-in or sidecar (.srt) captions delivered alongside the final cut within 7 working days of edit-lock. Included at no extra charge on Brand Film, Interview Film, Content Day, and Full-Production podcast packages.
- Transcripts on audio deliverables: Speaker- attributed transcript delivered within 5 working days of mix-master. Included on Full-Production podcast packages and audiobook projects; available on Single Episode and per-session bookings on request for a small per-hour fee.
- BSL interpretation can be arranged for live recordings — no additional charge to the booking; we ask for two weeks' notice to book a qualified interpreter.
- Multi-track audio is recorded for every session, which makes precise captioning and re-mixing for accessibility straightforward — useful if you later need a low-noise mix or a separate-speakers track.
- We can provide live audio routing to a separate room if a guest needs to participate from outside the recording booth (used for hearing-aid telecoil compatibility, anxiety, sensory needs).
Communication
- We're happy to communicate by email, WhatsApp or phone — whichever works best for you. Email at support@creativemikestudios.com is best for anything you'd like in writing.
- For deaf or hard-of-hearing visitors, we welcome BSL interpreters at no additional charge to the booking. Please let us know in advance so we can plan space for them.
- We use plain English in our pricing, contracts and policies. If anything is unclear, tell us — we'll fix the wording, not just the answer.
Where we're improving
Honest about what's not done yet:
- Website conformance gaps — known issues we're actively working through:
- A handful of historic dashboard pages still use form placeholders without a paired visible label. Public-facing pages are clear.
- Some image alts on legacy blog posts are auto-generated from filenames; we audit and rewrite as posts come up for editorial review.
- We don't currently have a changing facility or a quiet room separate from the studio itself. We'll factor both into the Woolwich premises move (planned mid-2026).
- Our captions are human-reviewed but the first pass is machine-generated. We're evaluating whether a pure-human- captioner pipeline is worth the trade-off for music-heavy episodes.
Reporting an issue
If you encounter an accessibility problem with our website or studio, please tell us directly — email support@creativemikestudios.com. We aim to respond within 2 working days with at minimum an acknowledgement and a target fix date for genuine defects. We treat every report as feedback worth acting on, not a complaint to manage.
Equality Act 2010
Creative Mike Studios is a service provider under the Equality Act 2010. The commitments above are how we meet (and where stated, exceed) our duty to make reasonable adjustments. If you've been quoted a price that includes an accessibility accommodation as a paid extra, that's our mistake — flag it and we'll correct it.
